Poor little Leo is still just a tiny baby monkey, but he is already going through an incredibly painful and confusing time.
Leo’s mother, Libby, has been trying to wean him and teach him to become more independent. Weaning is a natural part of growing up, but for little Leo, this transition has become frightening and heartbreaking. He still desperately wants his mother’s milk, warmth, and protection. Whenever he feels hungry, tired, or scared, he instinctively runs back to Libby, hoping to be held and comforted like he was before.
But instead of receiving the gentle reassurance he needs, Leo is often pushed away harshly.
When Leo refuses to give up and continues crying for his mother, Libby becomes extremely aggressive toward him. She hits him and bites him, sometimes hurting him badly enough to leave tiny wounds bleeding. Poor Leo cries loudly, desperately trying to escape the attack while still looking back toward his mother.
It is heartbreaking to watch because Leo seems completely confused. He does not understand why the mother he loves so much has suddenly become so hard on him.
During this painful moment, Leo is attacked again. His tiny body is already exhausted from crying and struggling. After the attack, he sits there frightened and weak, his little face filled with sadness. His cries slowly become quieter, but he still seems to be searching for his mother’s attention.
Perhaps Libby is struggling to teach Leo how to grow up, or perhaps she simply does not know how to handle his difficult weaning stage. But for a tiny baby like Leo, the lesson is becoming far more painful than it should ever be.
Leo is not being stubborn because he wants to cause trouble. He is only a baby who is afraid of losing the comfort he has depended on since birth. To him, his mother’s body, milk, and embrace are his entire world. When she suddenly pushes him away, he does not understand that she is trying to make him independent. All he feels is rejection.
Even after being hurt, Leo still looks toward Libby.
That is perhaps the most heartbreaking part of all.
After everything that happened, little Leo still wants his mother. He still hopes she will come back and comfort him. He still wants to crawl close to her and feel safe in her arms. His tiny heart seems unable to understand why the person he trusts most is the one causing him so much pain.
Watching Leo cry until he is exhausted is incredibly difficult. He is small, vulnerable, and completely dependent on the family around him. At this stage of his life, he needs patience and gentle guidance as he learns to become independent.
Poor little Leo—he is only trying to grow up, but instead of understanding what is happening, he is left frightened, hurt, and confused.
Hopefully, one day Libby will become gentler with her little son and help him through this difficult stage with patience rather than aggression. Leo deserves to learn independence without losing the feeling that he is still loved.
For now, all this tiny boy seems to want is a little kindness, a little protection, and the warm love of the mother he still refuses to give up on. ❤️🐒
