Poor little Leo’s heartbreaking struggle continues.
After being mistreated by his mother, Libby, the tiny baby is left frightened and shaking all alone. Leo sits on the ground crying desperately, looking around as if he cannot understand where his mother has gone. His tiny body trembles, and his cries echo around him as he searches for the one person he has always depended on.
But Libby has already walked away.
Leo cannot simply stay where he is. His little heart is too frightened to be alone. He begins running around, looking in every direction for his mother. He climbs onto the stones and carefully looks around, hoping to catch a glimpse of Libby somewhere nearby.
Again and again, he searches.
“Where is Mom?”
Leo’s frightened little face seems to ask the same question as he cries. He is still so young, and being separated from his mother makes him feel completely helpless. Even though Libby has hurt him before, Leo still wants her. He still follows her. He still believes that his mother should be the safest place in the world.
Sadly, peace between Leo and Libby never seems to last.
Since he was little, Leo has struggled to receive the gentle affection and patience he needs from his mother. Instead of growing up surrounded by calm and reassurance, he has become familiar with crying, fear, and rejection.
Then, suddenly, Leo sees Libby coming back.
The moment he recognizes his mother, his crying becomes even louder. Instead of running away from her, Leo looks toward her with desperate hope. Perhaps he thinks she has returned to comfort him. Perhaps he simply cannot stop loving the mother he has been searching for.
But Libby does not stop to comfort him.
She grabs little Leo and begins walking away with him.
Poor Leo cries and cries as he is carried along. His tiny voice sounds exhausted, as if he has been crying for so long that he no longer knows how to make his pain understood.
This has become a heartbreaking part of Leo’s everyday life.
He cries when he is hungry. He cries when he is frightened. He cries when his mother leaves him. And even when she comes back, he still seems afraid of what might happen next.
The saddest thing is that Leo never seems to stop looking for his mother’s love.
Even after being hurt, he still follows her.
Even after being rejected, he still calls for her.
Even after being frightened, he still hopes she will come back.
For such a tiny baby, this must be an incredibly confusing world. Leo does not understand why the mother he loves can also be the source of so much fear. All he seems to want is to stay close to her, feel protected, and receive the gentle affection that every little baby needs.
Day after day, his cries continue.
And each time Leo looks toward Libby, there seems to be the same innocent hope in his eyes—that maybe this time Mom will be kind, maybe this time she will hold him gently, and maybe this time he will finally feel safe.
Poor little Leo.
His crying has become almost like a part of his daily life, but behind every cry is a tiny baby who is still searching for the same thing: his mother’s love, comfort, and protection. ❤️🐒
