Lola’s Painful Journey — The Long Road to Recovery Begins
After surviving the terrible attack, little Lola’s journey was far from over.
The days that followed were still difficult and painful. Thankfully, Lola was not alone. Her loving mother, Leyla, stayed close to her almost every moment, while the cameraman group who had watched over Lola also continued doing everything they could to help her recover.
For several days, they carefully applied medicine to Lola’s injuries and cleaned her wounds. One of the worst injuries was on her ankle, where the wound had been badly cut open. It looked frightening and must have caused Lola tremendous pain.
Yet something about little Lola was truly remarkable.
Even though she was hurting, she remained surprisingly calm whenever her wounds were cleaned and treated. She seemed to understand that the medicine was meant to help her. She patiently endured the uncomfortable treatment, resting quietly while the wounds were carefully cared for.
This tiny baby had already been through so much, yet she continued to fight.
Her biggest challenge was moving around.
Lola’s right hand was temporarily unusable because of the serious injury and fracture. Before the attack, she could climb trees easily with the other young monkeys. Now, every movement had become a struggle.
When Lola tried to climb, she had to rely mostly on her healthy limbs and find a different way to pull herself upward.
Sometimes she would stop and rest.
Sometimes she seemed exhausted after only a short climb.
But she kept trying.
Her mother, Leyla, remained nearby, watching carefully. Lola seemed to feel safest when she was close to her mother. Whenever she became tired or frightened, she would stay beside Leyla, finding comfort in her familiar presence.
Despite all the pain, there was one encouraging sign:
Lola could still eat well.
She continued accepting food and milk, giving her body the energy it needed to heal. Every little bite was important because her body needed strength to repair the damage caused by the attack.
But the pain was taking a heavy toll on her.
After eating or receiving treatment, Lola often became extremely tired. She would curl up beside her mother and take long naps, sometimes sleeping for what seemed like hours.
Her little body needed rest.
Healing would not happen overnight.
Every wound needed time.
Every bruise needed time.
And her injured arm needed even more time.
While Lola slept, Leyla often stayed close beside her. The mother seemed unwilling to let her baby face this difficult period alone.
There were moments when Lola looked so small and fragile, resting against her mother after everything she had endured. It was difficult to imagine that this same little monkey had once been running and playing happily with her friends.
Now, every step was a reminder of the terrible night that changed her life.
But Lola was still here.
She survived.
And now, her recovery journey had truly begun.
Day by day, the cameraman group continued checking on her and helping with her treatment. Day by day, Leyla continued giving her baby the warmth, protection, and love she needed.
There would surely be difficult days ahead.
Lola might need a long time before she could climb normally again. Her injured arm would require patience and care. And there was no way to know exactly how much movement she would eventually regain.
But Lola had already shown something more powerful than strength in her little body:
She had the will to keep going.
For now, she only needed to rest, eat, heal, and stay close to the mother who loved her.
Her wounds were still fresh.
Her body was still weak.
Her little heart was still recovering from a terrifying experience.
But with Leyla beside her and caring people watching over her, Lola’s painful journey toward recovery had begun.
And everyone who knows this brave little monkey can only hope that, one day, she will climb those trees again—not as the frightened baby who survived an attack, but as the strong little survivor who never gave up.
