Button was an older monkey mother who seemed to have run out of patience with her tiny son, Bean. Her little boy was still so small, innocent, and completely attached to his mommy. For Bean, nothing in the world felt more comforting than snuggling close to Button and enjoying his favorite milk. ❤️🐒
But things were changing. Button had decided it was time to begin weaning her little baby, and she was determined to make him understand that he couldn’t ask for milk whenever he wanted.
Unfortunately, poor little Bean wasn’t ready to accept this new rule!
One morning, Bean slowly approached his mother, looking up at her with his big, innocent eyes. He gently reached for her body, hoping to enjoy a warm cuddle and his favorite milk. He made tiny pleading sounds, desperately asking Mommy to let him nurse.
But Button was in no mood to give in.
She turned away from her baby and firmly refused his request. Bean was confused. Why was Mommy saying no? He had always been able to find comfort in her arms, so why was she suddenly pushing him away?
Little Bean tried again. He moved closer, reached out with his tiny hands, and cried louder, hoping his mother would change her mind. His little face looked so disappointed, as if he couldn’t understand why the person he loved most was refusing him.
But Button remained stubborn!
Whenever Bean tried to approach her for milk, Button moved away or gently but firmly pushed him back. She seemed irritated by his repeated requests, and her patience was growing thinner with every little cry.
Oh, poor Bean! His tiny heart seemed full of disappointment. 💔😭
Unable to get what he wanted, Bean began throwing a dramatic little tantrum. He cried, wiggled his body, and followed Button wherever she went. Every time his mother stopped, he hurried over to her again, hoping this time she might finally say yes.
But Mommy Button was determined to stick to her decision.
“No more milk right now, little Bean!”
Of course, Bean didn’t understand the meaning of weaning. He only knew that he wanted his mommy’s comfort, and he couldn’t understand why she wouldn’t let him have it.
He clung to Button, made more pleading noises, and looked up at her with the most heartbreaking expression imaginable. His tiny hands reached toward her as if begging her not to leave him behind.
Button looked increasingly annoyed. She turned away again, trying to end the little one’s repeated requests. But Bean was persistent! No matter how many times she refused him, he kept coming back, convinced that one more attempt might melt his mother’s heart.

Despite all the crying and fussing, Button’s weaning lesson continued. Little Bean was learning that things would not always happen exactly when he wanted them to. But learning this lesson was clearly much harder for the baby than for his mother!
Eventually, Bean paused his little tantrum and stayed close to Button, still hoping for some affection. Although she continued to set boundaries around nursing, those quiet moments reminded us that a baby needs comfort as well as guidance.
Weaning can be a challenging transition for both mother and baby. Bean wanted the familiar comfort he had always known, while Button was trying to change their routine. Their struggle was full of frustration, innocent confusion, and the complicated reality of growing up.
