Kyla was once a little pet monkey who depended on humans for care and comfort. But one day, her life changed, and she found herself abandoned in an unfamiliar world. Lila seemed willing to tolerate Kyla’s closeness, giving the little girl a chance to stay near her. For Kyla, even this small acceptance meant so much. She carefully leaned toward Lila, hoping to receive the warm embrace she had been missing for so long.

If only Kyla could have explained her feelings in words, perhaps she would have said, “I have been alone for so long. I see you holding your baby, and I remember how much I need someone, too. Please don’t be afraid of me. I only want to feel loved.”
Lila still had her own baby to protect, and their relationship would need time to develop. But this encounter offered Kyla a small ray of hope. For the first time in a long while, she had found a mother and baby whose presence made her feel that kindness might still exist in her world.
Baby Leland continued to enjoy his mother’s care, while Kyla stayed close enough to watch their sweet family moments. Perhaps, with patience and gentle acceptance, Kyla could gradually learn how to build friendships and find a safe place among the other monkeys.
