It was a peaceful day in the monkey group, but for one tiny baby monkey, everything seemed to be going wrong. This little baby was still very young, full of emotions, and not yet able to understand why his mother could not always give him the attention he wanted. Whenever he felt upset, frightened, or unhappy, he knew only one way to express himself — by crying as loudly as he could and demanding that everyone pay attention to him.
That day, his little heart was full of frustration, and nobody seemed able to calm him down.
The tiny baby had been staying close to his mother, following her wherever she went. He wanted to be carried, cuddled, and comforted every moment. Whenever Mom moved away to look for food or take care of herself, the baby immediately became unhappy. He would reach out his tiny hands, make desperate little calls, and beg her to come back.
At first, Mom tried to be patient. She looked down at her little one, touched him gently, and allowed him to stay close to her. But the baby wanted more than just a few moments of attention. He wanted his mother all to himself, and he wanted her to stop everything she was doing and focus entirely on him.
When Mom finally decided to move away, the little baby could not accept it.
He suddenly began to cry.
At first, his cries were small and shaky, as if he were simply asking his mother not to leave. But when Mom continued walking, his crying became louder and louder. He stretched out both arms toward her, calling desperately for her to return.
Mom turned around to look at him.
For a moment, the baby seemed to think she was coming back. He quickly reached toward her, hoping she would pick him up and hold him against her chest.
But Mom was tired. She had already spent a long time caring for her demanding little baby, and she needed a moment to herself. She looked at him briefly before turning away again.
That was when the real tantrum began.
The tiny baby threw himself onto the ground and started screaming at the top of his little lungs. He rolled from one side to the other, kicked his tiny legs, waved his arms, and cried as if the whole world had abandoned him.
His little face became scrunched up with unhappiness. His mouth opened wide, and his loud cries echoed through the surrounding trees and stones.
He was not interested in standing up.
He was not interested in following Mom.
And he certainly was not interested in accepting anyone else’s comfort.
All he wanted was his mother.
Whenever another monkey moved nearby, the baby cried even louder, almost as if he wanted everyone in the group to know just how unhappy he was. He kicked his feet against the ground and stubbornly refused to get up.
It was such a dramatic scene for such a tiny little monkey!
His mother glanced back several times, but the baby continued his performance. Every time she seemed ready to move closer, he stretched out his arms and cried even harder, demanding that she come and pick him up.
Mom finally looked exhausted. She had tried to comfort him, but nothing seemed to satisfy him. She needed to move away to forage and take care of her own needs, yet her little one seemed determined to make that as difficult as possible.
And then something unexpected happened.
His big sister came over.
She had been watching her little brother’s dramatic behavior, and perhaps she felt sorry for him. Although she was still a young monkey herself, she seemed to understand that her little brother was upset and needed some affection.
She slowly approached him and sat beside him.
The baby was still lying on the ground, crying loudly, his little body twisting and turning with every new wave of frustration. His big sister gently reached toward him, trying to get his attention.
She touched his shoulder.
Then she leaned closer and wrapped her little arms around him.
It was a sweet, tender moment. His big sister seemed to be saying, in her own monkey way, “Come here, little brother. Don’t cry so much. I’m right here with you.”
For a brief moment, the baby allowed her to hold him.
His sister carefully pulled him closer, offering him a warm hug. She gently groomed him and stayed beside him, hoping her affection would help him feel safe again.
But the little baby was not ready to give up his tantrum.
As soon as his sister tried to help him sit up, he threw himself back onto the ground!
He started crying all over again.
His big sister looked at him, seemingly confused by his stubborn behavior. She had offered him a hug, tried to stay close, and done everything she could think of to make him feel better. Yet her little brother continued to scream and refuse to cooperate.
Still, she did not immediately give up.
She moved closer again and tried to embrace him. The baby leaned against her for a moment, but then he suddenly turned away, flung his little arms outward, and began kicking the ground once more.
His sister patiently followed him.
When he rolled to one side, she moved beside him.
When he stretched his arms out, she reached toward him.
And when he cried so loudly that he seemed unable to hear anything around him, she simply stayed close, offering him the comfort he was refusing to accept.
It was both heartbreaking and a little funny to watch. This tiny baby had such enormous feelings inside his little body, and he seemed convinced that the only way to solve his problem was to cry louder than everyone else.
His big sister, meanwhile, was doing her very best to be the patient one.
She even tried gently pulling him toward her again, hoping he might finally settle down and let her hold him.
But no.
The little baby was determined!
He dropped himself onto the ground once more, let out another enormous cry, and refused to rise.
His sister paused and looked around, almost as if she were wondering what else she could possibly do.
She was not his mother, after all. She could offer a hug and stay by his side, but she could not give him everything he wanted.
And what he wanted most was Mom.
Unfortunately, Mom had reached the end of her patience.
She had watched the tantrum continue for quite some time. She had tried to give her baby space, and she knew that his sister was staying nearby. Although she might have felt concerned about his crying, she also needed to continue with her day.
So Mom slowly walked farther away.
The little baby noticed immediately.
He lifted his head, saw his mother moving away, and began crying even louder than before.
His little hands stretched desperately in her direction. His eyes followed her every movement, and his cries became filled with a new sense of panic.
He seemed unable to understand why his mother was leaving him when he was so unhappy.
To him, it must have felt as though nothing was going his way.
He had cried for Mom.
He had thrown himself onto the ground.
He had refused to stand up.
And now, instead of coming back to carry him, Mom was walking away.
The baby became even more upset.
He rolled over again and continued his loud, heartbreaking cries. His big sister remained close, watching him with a mixture of concern and uncertainty. She gently approached him one more time, hoping that perhaps he would finally accept her company.
She sat beside him and reached out.
But the baby continued calling for his mother.
His sister could only stay there, offering what little comfort she could.
From a distance, Mom continued moving away. She was tired, and she had decided that she could not keep responding to every cry and every demand. She needed to take care of herself, too.
The baby watched her disappear farther into the group.
For a little while, he continued crying at full volume, as though he hoped his voice would somehow bring her back.
His big sister stayed beside him, occasionally reaching out to touch him. Even though she could not make his unhappiness disappear, she did not immediately leave him alone.
The scene was a reminder that little monkeys, just like human children, can have enormous emotions that they do not yet know how to manage. When they are young, tired, frustrated, or seeking reassurance, their feelings can become overwhelming. They may cry, cling, protest, and struggle to settle down, even when someone is trying to comfort them.
This tiny baby was not able to explain what he felt. He could not tell his mother that he wanted to be close to her, that he missed her attention, or that he did not know how to handle his frustration.
All he could do was cry.
And cry he did!
His big sister had tried her best to give him the warm embrace he needed, but her little brother was still too overwhelmed to accept it. She could not replace Mom, no matter how gently she held him.
Perhaps, after a while, the little baby would grow tired of his own tantrum. Perhaps he would finally sit up, look around, and realize that his sister was still there beside him. Maybe he would crawl toward her, accept a little grooming, and slowly begin to calm down.
And perhaps, when Mom had rested and finished what she needed to do, she would come back and allow her little one to settle close to her again.
For now, however, the tiny baby remained on the ground, crying out his little heart, while his patient big sister stayed nearby.
He was small, stubborn, emotional, and desperately attached to his mother.
His tantrum might have seemed dramatic to everyone watching, but to him, his little world felt terribly unfair.
And that was why he kept crying — hoping that somehow, somewhere, his mother would hear him and come back to give him the comfort he wanted so badly.
Poor little baby! His big sister tried so hard to help him, but nothing seemed to stop his enormous tantrum. Sometimes, even the warmest hug cannot immediately soothe a little heart that is overwhelmed with emotion. ❤️🙈
